Where We Work

ISE launched its European operations in Bulgaria—one of the poorest EU member states and consistently ranking in the top two EU countries with the highest number of trafficked victims. The project will then be gradually adapted and expanded to the countries of the Western Balkans and the rest of Europe.

Currently, ISE works with two rural communities in Bulgaria who are being trained to start micro enterprises for the production of wellness herbal products. Bulgaria is one of the biggest producers and exporters of herbs in Europe and the world. Out of the 605 European species of herbs, 421 species grow in Bulgaria. ISE will tap into this potential and will help its target groups to develop local products made out of herbs, which will then be marketed through global retailers, under the brand name Saksham, and with raised awareness for global social impact and fair trading practices.
